Champions comes in all different forms, from sports winners to historical figures to the everyday heroes that people know and love in their own communities. Carrie Underwood highlighted all of the influential figures that made a difference in the world in the new video for her song, “The Champion.”
As Underwood and her collaborator Ludacris record their powerful vocals within the booth, they flash through a number of life-changing and motivational clips from people all across the globe that moved history. Kicking the video off with American pride for the people who serve the country every day to keep us safe, appearances from soldiers and police officers bring pride to the forefront of the message.
Flicking through athletes giving their all in training practices to some of the greatest players in the world like tennis player Serena Williams, marathon runner Shalane Flanagan and even Underwood’s own husband, Mike Fisher of the Nashville Predators, “The Champion” hypes up the importance of strength and courage while remembering the heart of it all in dedication.
But no representation of a champion could be complete without paying tribute to the ones who changed the world and how society runs. Throwing it back to the breaking down of the Berlin wall to the march of that Selma bridge, it’s those people who paved the way for millions that truly stand as the warriors among us.
Although the official music video for Underwood’s new song just premiered on Today, the track was used as a part of the Super Bowl lead-up as well as one of the many Olympic theme songs for the recent Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
