Carrie Underwood showed off how she rules as the queen of country during her dynamic performance of her latest single, “Church Bells,” on the CMT Awards.

Starting off strong with her only back-up being a solo banjo, she strutted her stuff in a gorgeous black jumpsuit that showed a little more skin through mesh-style cutouts. As the storyline of the song built up throughout the performance, it ultimately led up to a killer musical climax. Earlier on the carpet, Underwood had told media that she would be taking a different way toward her performance and that she did, leaving the audience with goosebumps thanks to the local Nashville choir.

The music video for “Church Bells” as well as the performance showed fans a brief look at Underwood’s Storyteller Tour, which is filled with fireworks and huge theatrics throughout each show.

Underwood won both of the awards for Female Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year. She just finished one leg of the Storyteller Tour, in which she will continue going on the road in fall.
