In May, NBC Sports revealed that Carrie Underwood would be the new voice of NBC’s Sunday Night Football theme song, “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night.” As you know, Underwood is taking on the role after superstar Faith Hill stepped down earlier this year (Hill recorded the song from 2007-2012).
Though she knows she has big shoes to fill, Underwood told CMT Radio that she’s ready to tackle it. “For me, to have that opportunity and to follow in [Hill’s] footsteps and do something really cool like that, it sounded like fun, you know?” she said.
Underwood, who recorded her version of “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” last month, is more than ready to take part in SNF. “This is something that’s been a part of our household for a while now,” Underwood added. “And to be a part of that is exciting, I can’t wait!”
Underwood is set to make her debut on Sunday, September 8 on NBC’s first SNF broadcast of the 2013 NFL season between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. The opening theme will continue each week kicking off Sunday Night Football every Sunday night throughout the NFL season on NBC.
