Carrie Underwood’s ‘Sound of Music’ Co-Star Revealed
As you know, Carrie Underwood is set to star in NBC’s live broadcast of “The Sound of Music” on December 5. As the highly anticipated premiere inches closer, the network is revealing more details about the production, which will be based on the original 1959 Broadway musical, including Underwood’s co-star.
“True Blood” actor Stephen Moyer has been cast as Captain von Trapp. The father of seven hires Underwood’ character, governess Maria von Trapp to take care of his children.
As a U.K. theater veteran, Moyer is no stranger to theater. He recently wrapped a three-night run in a Hollywood Bowl production of “Chicago.”
Underwood plans to move to move to New York City to prepare for her role as Maria. “I’ll be living in New York for a couple months,” she says. “It’s all live, so it is going to take a lot of rehearsals. It will be a couple of solid months working on it for one big night.”
