Budding singer-songwriter Caylee Hammack burst onto the country music scene with the release of her debut single on Friday, Jan. 18.

“Mama’s burning chicken for the Tupperware party tonight/ Daddy’s asleep in his chair, the TV’s blaring the stats for halftime,” Hammack sings, painting a picture of her small town upbringing and quirky family members on the aptly titled “Family Tree.” Both co-writing and co-producing the track, she matches a rhythm-and-blues-inspired beat with soulful vocals and clever wordplay before entering a soaring, uplifting chorus laden with pop sensibilities.

“I think family is the best way to introduce yourself to people,” Hammack said in a news release. “Every family has their quirks. This song is about the people I love the most, and the ones who made me who I am… and unknowingly, they have given me more song ideas than I can count just by being themselves.”

Along with “Family Tree,” Hammack has released the first installment of an introductory video series, which sheds more light on her background and offers a tease of more new music to come.

Hammock is currently on tour with LANCO.
