The city of Charleston, S.C. will honor one of its natives, Darius Rucker, by naming a street after him. The city will change the name of one of its streets near the North Charleston Coliseum, where Darius has played many concerts, to “Darius Rucker Boulevard.”

“That’s crazy, man. That’s crazy,” Darius told Charleston radio station WEZL when he heard the news. “You never expect anyone to name a street after you. I’m honored. I’m honored that they’re doing that.”

The city commission approved the motion to rename the street in order to honor Rucker for his charitable acts for the city of Charleston and its residents. “I do what I do because I love Charleston. I’m not trying to get any honors or anything. It’s because I love the city so much. It’s just amazing to be recognized like that.”

“It’s massive. It’s incredible,” Darius added. “I’m totally over the moon about the whole thing.”
