Kenny Chesney performs for a packed Seattle crowd in 2006

Kenny Chesney is set to rock Seattle’s Qwest Field on August 1, and he’s just announced that he’ll get the party started a little bit early for some lucky fans. Kenny will host his soundcheck the night before for winners to experience a world normally closed off to the public. The fans will get to see the soundcheck from the Sandbar area of Kenny’s shows, an up-close general admission pit directly in front of the stage.

Although this isn’t the normal way of doing things, Kenny admits that he’s excited to open up this part of his world to the fans. “We’re always looking for ways to change things up, to give the fans a peak into our world,” Chesney says. “It just seems like as long as we’re gonna be there, we might as well share it with the people who love our music – and inspire us to rock a little harder, to play a little bit longer. I don’t know if this is crazy, sane, or the start of something big, but given how awesome Seattle has always been for us, it seems like the perfect place to find out!”

By attending the intimate performance, fans are automatically giving their permission to be filmed. Fueling the rumor that Kenny is in the midst of putting together a hi-definition concert movie, this performance will be recorded. “Anyone who’s ever been in my house knows, I have pictures everywhere of everyone and everything,” Chesney says. “When you close your eyes, you can see all these amazing things that’ve happened, but if you wanna share it with your friends, you need these pictures. All the faces, the places we’ve been… well, I try to not just share it with the people in my life, but the fans who’ve made my life and been such a part of this. Who knows when or how? But I know you can only capture the moment in the moment, so that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Chesney’s “Sun City Carnival Tour” rolls into San Fransisco, CA this weekend and continues through the middle of September, when it wraps up at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiannapolis, IN.
