Kentucky-born Chris Stapleton is looking to give his home state a boost — and he’s doing so with a stadium sized country-music twist.
The “Millionaire” hit maker is set to headline a stadium show at the the University of Kentucky’s Kroger Field, and 100 percent of the concert’s net proceeds will go toward Stapleton and his wife Morgane’s Outlaw State of Kind Hometown Fund. The show will be fittingly billed as “A Concert for Kentucky.”
The award winning critical favorite won’t be the only big name on the lineup, however. He’ll be joined by Willie Nelson & Family, Sheryl Crow and English country-soul singer Yola for the first-ever concert at Lexington’s Kroger Field, which is planned for April 25, 2020.
The Stapleton’s Outlaw State of Kind was founded in 2016 and supports a variety of causes — including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Tennessee Wildlife Federation — while the “Hometown Fund” is focused exclusively local and national organizations directly impacting Kentucky. Early grants given by the fund have been aimed at music and arts education, and the new fund is a partnership with the Blue Grass Community Foundation.
Tickets for “A Concert for Kentucky” go on-sale October 11 at 10 a.m. local time. Stapleton fan-club member and Citi cardmember pre-sales begin October 8 at 10 a.m. local time.
