After a monumental year,  Chris Stapleton has claimed his very first CMT Music Award.

Taking home the Breakthrough Video of the Year trophy for “Fire Away,” Stapleton, took to stage donning his signature cowboy hat to accept the honor.

“A lot of people to thank for this video,” he said. “Universal first of all for always being a great partner…It was a tough subject matter in the video, but it was well worth the end result, I think. Thank you so much for this CMT. It means so much.”

He also took time to thank the fans. “I appreciate everything you’ve done for me and my family,” he shared.

Other nominees in the category included Brothers Osborne’s “Stay A Little Longer,” Cam’s “Burning House,” Chris Janson’s “Buy Me A Boat,” Maren Morris’ “My Church,” and Old Dominion’s “Break Up With Him.”
