Chris Young Goes New Direction on Forthcoming Album

Chris Young 2

Chris Young can’t wait for you to hear his new album. The project will be his fifth studio album, and you’ve likely already heard the lead single from the project, “I’m Comin’ Over.” He sat down with CountryMusicIsLove in Jamaica during the Boots on the Beach Vacation to chat about the album and his latest tune.

“It’s not a break up song,” he tells CMIL of “I’m Comin’ Over.” “It’s not ‘Hey, I’m lonely.’ It’s not other things we’ve touched on before. It’s more a situation that I think everyone has been in before.”

However, Chris stepped out of his comfort zone and did something he’s never done before to film the video for the tune.

“We did something that we don’t normally do, which is a night shoot,” Chris says. “Everybody’s like, ‘Oh, so you just shot it at night and you were done.’ No, no, no. It was 5pm to 5 in the morning. It’s a really cool video and how it turned out is exactly what I’d want for a song like ‘I’m Comin’ Over.’

The new album contains some cool moments as well. Chris took the reigns on the new album and included some famous collaborators.

“There’s a lot of stuff on this new record that we haven’t done before,” he says. “There’s a male/female duet on there. That I did with Cassadee Pope. There’s a song that we we recorded with Vince Gill. He sang harmonies and played lead on it. There’s a whole lot of stuff that I co-wrote on this record and that I co-produced.”

Stay tuned to CMIL for more from our interview with Chris.
