A rocky relationship takes a turn for the worst in the music video for Chris Young’s latest single, “Sober Saturday Night.”

The music video showcases an emotional rollercoaster of a relationship, in which it seems like the couple just went wrong somewhere. While there are hints that indicate another side to the story, all of the lines lead up to the idea that the man is simply upset over his girlfriend dumping him. Little does the viewer know that there’s about to be a tragedy in the midst of the video.

Young is also featured in the video, singing the sad heartbreak song that narrates the short-film theme throughout the three and a half minute clip. Between shots of Young and blurry captures of the toxic couple, the emotional video is meant to leave the viewers with an unexpected yet chilling conclusion.

“Sober Saturday Night,” which is the follow-up single to Young’s eighth No. 1, “Think of You,” features the vocals and guitar of music giant Vince Gill. Young was so excited to have someone that he’s looked up to on the track and noted that the song is made so much better thanks to Gill’s contribution.

“As we were going into the studio I knew I wanted someone to guest on ‘Sober Saturday Night’ for the guitar solo and harmonies,” said Young. “Vince Gill was the perfect person for the song, and I was humbled when he agreed to be on it. I’ve always been a fan of his voice and his guitar playing and he killed it.”

Young’s single, “Sober Saturday Night,” is the third to come off of his chart-topping album, I’m Comin’ Over.
