Chris Young’s latest single, “I’m Comin’ Over,” has had an explosive debut, with some of the biggest sales Young has ever seen in a song’s first week, and topped it off with a steamy video to match.

“I really think we shot a really cool video for this song,” Young tells CountryMusicIsLove. “You hear the title of that song and it’s not hard to guess, idea-wise, where we went with it… It’s a sexy song for sure.”

The song, which was released May 12 and shot up the iTunes singles chart almost immediately, was written by Young, along with Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge.

“I actually brought the title in the day that we wrote this song,” Young explains. “Every time that I write it’s always a 24-hour rule for me. I have to get away from the song for 24 hours, and then go listen to it. And then I’m like, ‘Hey – I love this, I think it’s great,’ or ‘Eh, it’s just okay.’”

“I’m Coming Over” made the cut pretty immediately. “As soon as I heard this one, I went to sleep and woke up the next day and I was like ‘Man, this might be the first single.’”

The single is a great teaser for Young’s forthcoming album, set for release later this year. Young says that putting together an album has a lot to do with timing, and that this record may sound a little bit different.

“The group of guys that I wrote [“I’m Comin’ Over”] are kind of the real center of how this record got started and why it sounds a little different,“ Young says. “There [are] technically no rules, you can do whatever you want. It’s a matter of trying to take the stuff that you think is going to connect best with everyone in the audience.”
