Chuck Wicks and his wife Kasi Rosa are expecting their first child together… a baby boy. Due in December, their son is nothing short of a miracle, as the couple revealed they are among the 15% of couples who struggle with infertility.

“It’s just such a miracle, such a blessing,” Wicks shared with PEOPLE. “I’m thankful for amazing doctors, thankful for science.”

According to Dr. Peter Schlegel, chairman of the urology department at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York and the immediate past president of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, fertility issues either lie with the man or with the couple together. In their case, the issue lied with Wicks.

“As a man,” says the singer and radio personality, “the last thing you want someone to tell you is you can’t do this. It makes you feel small. It makes you feel like you’re not a man.”

The couple decided to go with in vitro fertilization and doctors were able to successfully fertilize an egg. “It was just one egg, one sperm, and it actually worked,” shared the mom-to-be (and Jason Aldean’s sister).

It was in March that the couple did the egg transfer, and just eight days later, they learned they were pregnant. Now, they wait their son’s arrival in December.

The baby boy will be the first for the couple, but Kasi has three children from a previous relationship: 9-year-old Avery, 19-year-old Madison and 21-year-old Makenzie (the latter two were adopted during her previous marriage).
