12. Tragedy Strikes Again for Miranda Lambert: 2012 got off to a rough start for Miranda Lambert. Just days after mourning the loss of her father-in-law, Dick Shelton, Miranda lost a close friend. Mark Adams, whom Lambert had been friends with since the third grade, lost his life in a tragic traffic accident. Miranda asked fans to “pray for peace” after hearing the news.

Faith Hill Kicks Off Sunday Night Football with ‘Waiting All Day For Sunday Night’: For the sixth consecutive year, superstar Faith Hill returned to sing “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” on NBC for Sunday Night Football. Hill is looking better than ever in this year’s spot, showing off her long legs in a short mini dress.

10. Scotty McCreery Records Tim McGraw Song for ‘American Idol,’ Announces ‘Idol’ Performance: Fans were excited to hear the news that former “American Idol” champ Scotty McCreery recorded the new goodbye song for the hit show. He also returned to the show for a performance.

9. Kacey Musgraves’ ‘Merry Go ‘Round’ Has Impressive First Week at Country Radio: Newcomer Kacey Musgraves is making waves at Country radio with her debut single, “Merry Go ‘Round.” The song had a very impressive first week at radio, and continues to make its way up the charts.

George Strait to Reveal 2013 Tour Dates and Make ‘Other Major Announcements’ During Upcoming Press Conference: In September, George Strait and his team teased fans with the news of new tour dates and “other major announcements” when they announced that the singer was going to hold an important press conference later in the month. He ultimately announced that he would embark on his final tour, ‘The Cowboy Rides Away’ Tour, in 2013.

CMT Reveals Artists Of The Year, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean Among Honorees: CMT announced the 2012 Artists of the Year during a 90-minute special that aired on the network in December. Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood were honored at the ceremony.

6. Jake Owen Engaged to Lacey Buchanan: Jake Owen surprised girlfriend Lacey Buchanan and a hometown crowd filled with thousands of adoring fans on April 7 when he popped the question on stage during a concert. The couple wed on the beach just a few weeks later.

5. Miranda Lambert Included in ‘People’ Magazine’s 2012 World’s Most Beautiful Woman Issue: Miranda Lambert joined the likes of stars such as Kate Middleton, Michelle Williams, Sofia Vergara, and Charlize Theron in People Magazine’s 2012 World’s Most Beautiful Woman issue.

Taylor Swift Invites Cancer-Stricken Fan to ACM Awards: Taylor Swift warmed our hearts when she invited Kevin McGuire, a fan battling Leukemia, to attend the Academy of Country Music Awards with her. Unfortunately, McGuire was hospitalized the day before the show and was unable to attend with Swift. There is good news though; Kevin went on to graduate high school and is now doing well more than 180 days after his transplant, according to his Facebook page.

3. Lauren Alaina Crashes High School Prom While On Tour with Sugarland: Lauren Alaina surprised fans when she crashed the Lanesville High School on April 14. The singer was missing her own prom since she was out on tour, so she decided to visit a nearby prom while on tour with Sugarland. CMIL caught up with senior Ian Herrington, who got to dance with Lauren that evening.

2. Kellie Pickler Shaves Her Head in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness: Kellie Pickler made headlines when she revealed that she had shaved her head in support of breast cancer awareness. Her best friend Summer was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year.
