CMT.com and Landshark Lager Debut ‘Southern Ground Live’ with Performances by Blackberry Smoke, Sonia Leigh and Nic Cowan

CMT.com and Landshark Lager have joined forces to present musicians from Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Artists in a three-part, online performance series, Southern Ground Live, which launched today with Blackberry Smoke; a Georgia-based band that Brown refers to as “the revival of Southern rock.” Blackberry Smoke brought the house to its feet with songs from their just-released album The Whippoorwill, including: “Six Ways to Sunday,” “Pretty Little Lie,” “Everybody Knows She’s Mine” and “Ain’t Got the Blues.” Also joining them onstage, Jamey Johnson contributed vocals to a medley of “Yesterday’s Wine” and “Still Doin’ Time.”

New episodes of Southern Ground Live will feature performances from Sonia Leigh premiering Aug. 29, and Nic Cowan premiering Sept. 13 on CMT.com. The series captures the energy and intensity of Southern Ground artists as they make music on their own terms. Margaritaville in Nashville serves as host to the Southern Ground Live performance series.

Executive produced by Lewis Bogach and Mark Hall for CMT.com, Southern Ground Live is the latest in several recent digital music franchise launches for CMT.com, including Concrete Country, Listen Up and Live @ CMT. CMT.com maintains its position as the #1 most-visited country music website, according to comScore.

In addition to its support of Southern Ground Live, Landshark Lager is a presenting sponsor of Zac Brown Band’s 2012 tour.
