CMT to Document Mindy McCready’s Life and Career with CMT News Special Airing March 10

In wake of the recent death of country singer Mindy McCready, CMT will premiere a one-hour news special documenting McCready’s life and career and examining the final days leading up to her tragic death when “CMT News Presents: Mindy McCready Fallen Angel” airs Sunday, March 10 at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT.

“Only CMT can tell the real Mindy McCready story,” said Lewis Bogach, Vice President of Production. “We were there when she first hit Nashville, followed her rise to #1, through her devastating life and tragic death.”

While McCready was best known for her breakthrough record Ten Thousand Angels, it was her history of drug and alcohol abuse, combined with several suicide attempts and public child custody battles that were responsible for landing her in the spotlight later on in life. Hosted by CMT’s Katie Cook, “CMT News Presents: Mindy McCready Fallen Angel” will highlight the highs and lows of the star’s life, and feature archival CMT interviews, never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews with those who knew her closely. Country artists Ty Herndon, Richie McDonald, Lorrie Morgan and Jimmy Wayne, and Nashville industry vets Holly Gleason and Robert K. Oermann will all lend their insight. Additionally, David Malloy (producer, former boyfriend), Jimmy Nichols (musician, close friend), Norro Wilson (producer), and Eric Hughes, McCready’s child custody lawyer who spoke with her the Thursday before she died and is giving CMT his first interview since her death, will share their personal experiences with the troubled star.
