Country Artists React to Joey Feek’s Death

The country music community continues to mourn the loss of Joey Feek of Joey + Rory, who passed away today (March 4) after her long battle with Stage 4 cervical cancer. She was 40.

“My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven,” Rory writes on his blog This Life I Live, revealing the death of his wife yesterday afternoon at her childhood farm. “The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior.”

Shortly after Rory Feek posted the news, an outpouring of prayers flooded in from the likes of Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Chris Young and many, many more.

“Praying for the family & friends of Joey Feek,” Underwood writes on Facebook. “A beautiful soul moved into heaven today. A beautiful legacy she left behind.”

Alongside a verse from the Bible, on Instagram Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott thanks Joey for sharing her life with the world.

“I can honestly say I’m a better wife and mother because of you,” she writes. “Thank you for sharing, not just your story, but your LIFE with bravery and NEVER wasting one opportunity to point others to Jesus.”

❤❤️❤️ My continued prayers to the whole family. #joeyfeek

As Neal McCoy explains in his video message on Facebook, sometimes the only way to comfort those in difficult times like this is to sing. And with that he sings Gospel hymn “His Eye Is On the Sparrow.” “People read a lot of Love stories,” McCoy writes in the video’s caption. “This was no made up one, this was a real life story of Real love of the Deepest kind. That story had an ending today as Joey, of Joey+Rory, lost her battle to cancer but as they both know, she has just started a new Love story with her maker and her new Joyous life has just begun. Go run and farm and garden and sing with the very best now Joey!! The world will miss you.”
