With “Yellowstone” now in its fourth season, the “Got It From My Mama” duo—comprised of Dani Rose and Sofie Lynn—has now scored three songs with a soon to be fourth on the show. Their most recent song “Chess” which was released on Friday, December 10 will appear in an episode later this year.

“We owe our success to Taylor Sheridan and we are grateful for his team, music supervisor Andrea von Foerster and Sabrina Del Priore at Viacom, for believing in us and giving our music the opportunity to live on our favorite show,” says Rose.

With a sound straight out of a saloon in the Wild West, the spirited song packs a punch as it showcases the duo’s strong willed and feisty side, painting them as the take no nonsense, cunning contenders in a bar fight, as depicted in the chorus,

“You picked a fight and you picked the wrong girl / Word travels fast when you’re in a small world /
It’s a bold move to take on the best / You’re playing checkers and I am playing chess.”

While the duo is sweet as honey, the confident and sassy lyrics in “Chess” are ones written from first-hand experience.

“I was at a bar one night, and all of a sudden a fight broke out,” shares Lynn. “The next thing I knew I was caught in the middle of it. One black eye later and with the help of our friends and co-writers Hillary Reynolds and Kalie Shorr, ‘Chess’ was born.”

Rose and Lynn are no strangers to having their music on TV. In addition to what will now be four songs appearing on “Yellowstone”, the Southern rooted, Los Angeles-formed duo has also had their tracks featured on episodes of HBO’s “True Blood” and the CW’s “Roswell”, in addition to NFL commercials.
