The Scott Brothers, Jonathan and Drew Scott (also known as HGTV’s Property Brothers!) are well known for their skills with buying, selling and renovating homes, but recently, they became known for their skills as musicians.

The twins sent fans into a tizzy when they released their own original music back in February. But the addition of music to their resumes wasn’t as far of a stretch as one may think.

“We grew up on a ranch so every other day was sitting around a campfire, strumming a guitar, singing. My dad used to play professionally before we were born,” Drew Scott told Sounds Like Nashville. “We were afraid some of our fans, or even the country fans in general, would be looking at us saying ‘what are these property guys coming and doing in country music?’ But no, everyone has been open arms.”

The brothers were already part-way into country music, Jonathan Scott jokes, saying they were almost like country stars. “What makes country music so popular?’ The music videos, tight jeans, playing guitar. [We have] tight jeans and a sledgehammer… hello! Not a big step,” he said with a laugh.

While the duo has plans for more music in the future, they insist that they aren’t giving up on their day jobs, like Brother vs Brother, Buying and Selling, and Property Brothers at Home, among others.

“We’re not giving up our series. That’s still our prime focus and this is an amazing additional thing that we enjoy doing, but we’re not quitting the shows and going on tour doing music,” said Jonathan. “This is going to be something that on our down time, absolutely, we’re going to fill that up performing and people are going to see us live.”

Watch the video above to see what else the Property Brothers told us about their future plans in country music and the “real” reason (according to Drew) Jonathan decided to play an instrument.
