Country Music Stars Talk About What CMA Award Nominations Mean To Them

Tonight on ABC, Country music’s biggest stars will join forces for “Country Music’s Biggest Night!” “The 46th Annual CMA Awards” will take place tonight in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and everyone is excited for the festivities. With the nominations announced and the anticipation building, the stars have spoken about what it means to be recognized by the industry and what it would mean to win the coveted award. Check out what they had to say:

“When we found out that the album was nominated, it was just such an amazing feeling,” Charles Kelley said. “Own the Night is really special to us and really a nostalgic record for us. And so, to see it still get recognized like that is a special thing. There’s just so many great records in that category and so, it’s awesome. We definitely don’t take it for granted.” – Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley on their Album of the Year nomination

“I feel like all we’re doing is what we did back then; we’re doing it on a bigger scale,” Church said. “I think more people are paying attention now. It certainly makes me feel good that we stuck to our guns. If you ask me about being kind of in the middle of things, I like the edges. So for me it’s about staying out there on those edges and being able to do something different every time. I think that’s how we got here.” – Eric Church on being nominated and doing things his own way

“Just to be there is pretty cool,” he says. “I’d be really surprised (if I win). If I win, I’ll have nothing written and be as shocked as anybody.” – Dierks Bentley on his nominations

“We’ve been nominated for Group before, but never for that, a song performance,” Karen Fairchild said. “So, it’s just super cool. Who would’ve thought that ‘Motorboatin’’ would be up for Single of the Year, you know? But that’s how big an impact, I guess, it’s had with the fans and with people. People want to have a good time.” – Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild on being nominated for Single of the Year

Make sure you tune in to ABC tonight at 8/7c with hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.
