Country Singer Lynn Anderson Dies at 67

Country singer Lynn Anderson has died of a heart attack at the age of 67, The Tennessean reports.

Anderson, who is best know for the classic song, “(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden,” passed away on Thursday (7/30) in Nashville at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. According to reports, she had been hospitalized for pneumonia after a recent trip to Italy.

Anderson rose to fame after appearing on “The Lawrence Welk Show” from 1967-1969. She then inked a deal with Columbia Records and went on to nab a Grammy and CMA in 1971.

In recent years, Anderson was back in the spotlight after multiple DUI arrests. She apologized to her fans after her September 2014 arrest and assured them that she was on the road to recovery.

Anderson is survived by her father and three children. Arrangements for her funeral will be announced shortly.

Update: Anderson’s funeral will be held 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Wednesday (8/5) at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, located at 660 Thompson Lane in Nashville.
