As shock waves of disbelief continue to ripple across the globe, country stars have joined the chorus of sadness and grief over NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s untimely passing.

The five-time champion and 41-year-old father of four passed away Sunday (January 26) in a California helicopter crash with his teenaged daughter, Gianna, and seven others, and the loss has highlighted just how much the perennial all star meant to public figures of all stripes. Questions about the accident remain, but Bryant’s enduring legacy is all but certain.

So sad to hear about the passing of @kobebryant and his daughter today. I literally am sick to my stomach. Always loved watching him play. Definitely one of the greatest of all time.
