The nominees for this year’s 55th annual CMA Awards were announced today (September 9), and many of the stars singled out were shocked and surprised by the news.

Some have earned many CMA trophies over the years, while others are just getting started, but seeing your name on the list is always a moving experience. With that in mind, we’ve collected a few of the best reactions to today’s news below.

Luke Combs, who is up for three awards including Entertainer of the Year, seemed to wonder if he was still dreaming.

“WOW. What an amazing thing to wake up to,” he wrote, going on to shout out his team and crew, as well as the fans. “None of this would be possible without YOU! I’m a lucky man.”

Gabby Barrett continues to roll on her massive hot streak, adding four CMA nominations to her credit this year. And apparently, she “CANT HANDLE IT!!!!!”

Likewise, Carly Pearce is having one of the best years of any artist in country, having earned an ACM Award and also getting inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2021 (not to mention being presented the key to her hometown). She had a suitable reaction to her two nods for Album of the Year (29) and Female Vocalist of the Year, pouring her heart out in two separate posts.

“Last year when I saw my name on the CMA nominations for Song of the Year, I thought my heart was going to explode,” she wrote of her Female Vocalist nod. “This year, it was even more intense. So many of the women I’ve loved – Patty Loveless, Dolly Parton, Trisha Yearwood, Alison Krauss, Faith Hill, Lee Ann Womack, Barbara Mandrell, Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn – have won Female Vocalist. To be in their company was a dream in some of my lowest moments. To be back here this year with so many incredible peers and vocalists makes me feel like people can hear the truth I try to carry in my voice. I am so honored.

Meanwhile, Ashley McBryde scored three nominations, and summed up her feelings in a much shorter way, writing “Hot damn!!!!” And Chris Young seems to have had his mind blown.

Find out who will be posting thank yous after scoring wins for these nominations in two months, when the 55th Annual CMA Awards air November 10, live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
