Country Stars Share Valentine’s Day Memories, Plans

Happy Valentine’s Day…We hope “cupid” was good to you this year!

A few of Country music’s hottest stars, including Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and Keith Urban, recently shared their Valentine’s Day plans and memories. See what they had to say below…

“I’m one of those guys that’s like, ‘Oh s—. It’s Valentine’s Day, I better get flowers or something.’ It’s not a guy’s holiday, so they suck to me.” – Blake Shelton

“I try to feel like it’s more of an all-year round thing but I try to do something. Some times are better than others. It depends on how much time that I have or how lazy I’m being. But, I do pretty well most of the time. Sometimes they’re bigger than others, sometimes they’re just very simple. Faith has a rose garden so she loves being around her rose garden and cuttin’ roses and stuff. So, I’ve been finding these antique vases to get her for several occasions so those have been pretty cool.” – Tim McGraw

“I’m always very chill on Valentine’s Day, other than, you know, always takin’ care of my mama. I always get her a card, some chocolates, and flowers or somethin’ nice, you know, just to make her day because I always think of her first on those types of occasions, and other than that, I’m real laidback. I mean…oh, there’s been a lot of years where I’ve had a significant other on Valentine’s Day, and I always do something. But I always kind of go…I do something different, like I remember one time I got my girlfriend at the time like a little stuffed animal of some sort, you know? I mean, like, little goofy things like that, you know? I don’t go over the top and make a big deal out of it. I think it’s more of the hey, I’m payin’ attention, and I realize that this is a day that, you know, is for you and try and do somethin’ sweet. Other than that, I’m low key.” – Casey James

“When we start relationships, we’re so capable of honoring each other at the beginning with cards, flowers, chocolates, attention, affection and priority. All of that, all too many times, starts to drift away, and it drifts away because it’s easy at the beginning. It just happens naturally. You’re almost overdoing it sometimes in the beginning. I was listening to the radio, [and] they’re talking about when is a relationship too soon to give Valentine’s gifts. Some woman said, ‘I was dating this guy three weeks and it was Valentine’s Day, and he gave me an iPad for Valentine’s Day.’ That’s a ridiculous gift for Valentine’s Day!” – Keith Urban

“I would consider myself a romantic guy. I try and go above and beyond on Valentine’s Day just ‘cause it is such a special day for relationships and it’s something that I try to up the ante every year and just bigger and better is always the key. But Valentine’s Day is such a special day and I try to make it special every year.” – Greg Bates

“I’m probably going to be with my friends, or rehearsing. I’ll be working on the lighting rig, and lighting cues. And I don’t think I’d rather be anywhere else, to be honest.” – Taylor Swift

“One year actually — I believe it was the first Valentine’s Day that I got to spend with my now-fiancé Jacob — we were all in Florida, and he actually…he brought me roses, and he also brought my mother roses, as well, and I think my dad kind of forgot. So, he trumped my dad that year in Valentine’s Day giving. My dad was probably upset about that one.” – Clara of The Henningsens

“My favorite story about Valentine’s Day is everybody’s like, ‘So, what are you gonna do special?’ or, you know, kind of, ‘What do you have in your back pocket on Valentine’s Day?’ And I can never live up to my stepdad, because he asked my mom to marry him on Valentine’s Day, and then called us down from upstairs and asked me and my sister permission. So, pretty much anything I do, he made me look like a punk for the rest of my life (laughs) on Valentine’s Day.” – Chris Young
