Country Stars Head to the Polls for the Midterm Elections

Today is a big day for America as the 18 and older crowd heads to the polls to vote in the midterm elections. The topic of voting has been a hot one for weeks as tensions run high between political parties.

Hoping to encourage fans to hit the polls and make their voices heard, a number of country artists have posted photos of their “I voted” stickers on Instagram along with words of encouragement to their fans to do their civic duty.

A boost to get out and vote was assisted by Taylor Swift, who took to Instagram and shared her political views for the first time ever.

“Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway,” she wrote in part, hoping to inspire people to register. “So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count.”

Since then, Swift has been reposting photos of her fans rocking their voting stickers as a thank you.

Along with Swift, artists including Tim McGraw, Maren Morris and have posted proof of their poll trips. Check out some of the photos from the midterm elections and be sure to get out and vote!
