CountryMusicIsLove Follows the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup

In recent years, some of NASCAR’s biggest stars have made cameos in Country Music videos such as Kasey Kahne in Eric Church’s “Smoke a Little Smoke,” Jeff Gordon in Brad Paisley’s “Old Alabama,” Carl Edwards in Justin Moore’s “Bait a Hook,” and most recently, Danica Patrick in Miranda Lambert’s “Fastest Girl In Town.” Clearly, Country Music and NASCAR go together like peanut butter and jelly or cake and ice cream! This is why I’m excited to announce that CountryMusicIsLove has teamed up with NASCAR to cover the 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup championship series!

As part of the sponsored partnership, CMIL will have the opportunity to chat with a NASCAR driver, attend an upcoming race with garage and pit passes, and give CMIL readers the chance to WIN some great autographed merchandise! I’m not sure which driver CMIL will be teamed up with yet, but it will be one of the 12 drivers who made this year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup. The list includes Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski, Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex, Jr., Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon. When chatting with the driver, we’ll talk racing, and of course Country Music!

The Chase kicked off on Sunday with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series GEICO 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. Seven of the top-10 finishing spots were claimed by Chase drivers. NASCAR’s five-time champion, Jimmie Johnson led a race-high 172 of the 267 laps, but his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet spent the final 26 laps chasing down the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge of Brad Keselowski, who scored his fourth victory of the season and assumed the championship lead (by three points over Johnson) for the first time in his career. The next race is the Sylvania 300 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway this Sunday, September 23 and it just so happens that Travis Tritt will be performing!

I have to admit, I don’t know too much about NASCAR (unless it’s which Country Music star is performing at the next race), so this is going to be a great learning opportunity! Get ready for a fun ride! We’ll be covering the Chase now through November 20! Stay tuned for updates and for your chance to win some GREAT prizes!
