We’re counting down the days to 2013 by taking a look back on the year in Country music…On Wednesday, we revealed CMIL’s 12 Favorite Albums of 2012, and today we’re revealing our Favorite No.1 Singles of the Year!
With so many artists vying for the coveted No.1 spot on the Country radio charts, it takes a lot to take a song to the top. These singles claimed the top spot at Country radio and on our personal playlists this year.

David Nail – “Let It Rain” – It may have taken 48 weeks to reach No.1 at Country radio, but David Nail’s “Let It Rain” was an instant hit on our playlists!

Jake Owen – “Alone With You” – Jake Owen told the story many of us know a little too well with “Alone With You.” The song became Jake’s second career No.1 in April.

Lee Brice – “A Woman Like You” – Lee Brice once again captured our hearts with “A Woman Like You.” The sweet love song hasn’t left our playlist yet.

Miranda Lambert – “Over You” – The song, which was written about the passing of Blake Shelton’s brother, took on new meaning for the superstar couple after Shelton’s dad passed away in January. In addition to topping the charts at radio, “Over You” also took home the coveted Song of the Year Award at the CMAs in November.

Kip Moore – “Somethin’ Bout A Truck” – This newcomer may have won us over with a song about trucks, but his material goes much deeper than that. He’s no one-hit wonder, that’s for sure!

Carrie Underwood – “Good Girl” – After what seemed to be a never-ending hiatus from Country radio, Carrie Underwood returned with her smash hit “Good Girl.” She had us tapping our toes and singing along from the moment we heard the first note.

Eric Church – “Springsteen” – “The Chief” wow-ed us once again with “Springsteen.” Fans will definitely be making memories along with this melody for years to come.

Luke Bryan – “Drunk On You” – 2012 was another banner year for Luke Bryan. The superstar earned three No.1 singles in 2012, so it was tough to pick a favorite, but “Drunk On You” ended up taking the cake.

Eli Young Band – “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” – This is such an important song with a great message and we couldn’t think of a better group to sing it. It’s almost always on repeat!

Little Big Town – “Pontoon” – Little Big Town made the come back of all come backs with “Pontoon.” The song, which we named the Top Song of Summer 2012, will forever be a staple on our summer playlists.

Jason Aldean – “Take A Little Ride” – Aldean’s “Take A Little Ride” made its way to the top of the charts in just 10 weeks! Aldean, who currently had six consecutive No.1 singles under his belt, knows exactly what fans want!

Florida Georgia Line – “Cruise” – Florida Georgia Line is without a doubt one of this year’s biggest breakout acts.
