Dan + Shay captured hearts around the world with their Justin Bieber collaboration, “10,000 Hours,” which earned them a nomination ACM for Song of the Year. The song even earned the praise of BTS member Jungkook, who decided to cover the track.

Dan + Shay caught a glimpse of the cover and thanked the singer for his support on their song.

“First of all, [Jungkook] did an amazing job and we’re huge fans of those guys—they’re so good, the music’s amazing, everything is just so on point,” Dan Smyers shared with etalk CTV. “And their fans? Like, the best fans in the entire world—they’re so great.

“He did that cover and it was just incredible. I thought it originally was just a couple lines or something and then I went on SoundCloud and he had recorded the whole song,” added Smyers. “That’s a tremendous honor. Those guys are so talented and for him to stumble upon our song and to do a whole cover of it—you know it takes a lot of time to do something like that. To go into a studio and put the vocals in and record the whole thing and then upload it—that’s super kind of him to do that.”

The duo went on to add that if the right song was to come along that they’d love to collaborate with the boy band that has swept the world by storm.

“Maybe someday, we’ll collaborate with BTS,” Smyers said, his bandmate Shay Mooney adding, “We’re putting that into the world right now.”

A collaboration with the Nashville-based duo would be the second country crossover for BTS as the group teamed up with Lil Nas X, Billy Ray Cyrus, Diplo and Mason Ramsey for a star-studded performance of “Old Town Road” on the GRAMMYs.

Dan + Shay talked briefly about the potential for a new collaboration backstage at the ACM Awards, adding that the pressure was on to find another stand-out partnership.

“It’s a lot of pressure, you know, with having the success of that song and all that’s happened,” said Mooney to reporters during the virtual press conference.

On top of being nominated for Song of the Year with “10,000 Hours,” Dan + Shay earned the title of Due of the Year.
