Dan + Shay Soar to No. 1 Spot With ‘I Should Probably Go To Bed’
Another No. 1 hit for the country duo!
It’s celebration time for Dan + Shay as the duo just landed another No. 1 hit on the Mediabase Country Charts with “I Should Probably Go To Bed.”
The track soared to the top of the charts, taking over the lead position on the list from Lady A’s “Champagne Night.” The guys were thrilled to receive the news about their most recent single, and welcomed the accomplishment with a thankful tweet.
“ISPGTB IS OFFICIALLY #1, THANK YOU COUNTRY RADIO,” the duo wrote to all their Twitter followers.
This marks Dan + Shay’s eighth No. 1 hit in their career, preceded by tracks like “Speechless” and “Tequila.”
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney recently shared a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “I Should Probably Go To Bed,” which was born out of a desire to be creative in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think the time that we had off when Dan and I were both quarantined at our houses and didn’t see each other for a while…Yeah, there was so much creative energy that we had inside that we to really get out. I think that was one of the biggest fuels to the fire that became ‘I Should Probably Go To Bed,'” Mooney explained in the IGTV video.
Mooney also revealed how his legendary vocal run became the climactic end to the track, noting it was more of just a random riff than a planned-out moment.
“We just kinda made it up on the fly and it was almost this kinda in the moment of showing off, doing this ridiculous kind of run and it just kinda worked,” he laughed.
Another big accomplishment Dan + Shay continue to celebrate is their GRAMMY nomination in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “10,000 Hours,” featuring Justin Bieber. The 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards have been postponed from January 31 to March 14, 2021.
