Breakout stars Dan + Shay celebrated one of the biggest nights of their lives at February’s 61st Grammy Awards, winning the award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their multi-Platinum No.1, “Tequila.” And now that “sky high in Colorado” feeling is back, because they’ve finally received their trophies.
Posting a photo and video to Instagram Wednesday night (May 15), Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney proudly show off the new bling, beaming like they’ve never been so happy.
“Words can’t quite describe the emotions we felt when our Grammy Awards showed up at the studio today,” the duo wrote. “We considered making a fictional video of us re-creating the actual moment of surprise, but we felt like it was more important to just say thank you. Thank you to everyone who has been there for us, thank you to everyone who is with us right now, and thank you to everyone will be with us as we continue on this musical journey. None of this would be possible without you.”
The hit makers gave a heartfelt thank-you speech onstage when the award was announced in a pre-show telecast – and also performed passionate, guitar-and-piano live rendition of “Tequila” during the live ceremony, with Mooney stunning the crowd as he held onto the song’s final note.
As the Instagram video says, Dan + Shay are currently in the studio working on new music, and their current single, “All to Myself,” is out now. They’ll be on the road quite a bit this summer, joining Florida Georgia Line’s Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour and pop superstar Shawn Mendes for the Australian dates of his stadium tour, among other concert dates.
