Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers Shares His Hair-spiration

If you’ve been keeping up with Dan + Shay at all, you know that they’ve had a stand-out year. But more than that, you’ve likely noticed the new hairstyle band member Dan Smyers has been rocking.
Curious as to the inspiration behind his new ‘do, local Nashville media were hot on the case during a recent interview with the band.
“For the longest time, we were doing the same exact haircut. I was like, ‘I gotta change it up a little bit ’cause people are confusing us.’ Now, it’s pretty easy to identify the two of us,” admitted Smyers with a laugh.
The bouncy curls are new to Smyers, too, who shared that he never let his hair grow long enough as a kid to see what it would look like.
“Honestly, I’d never had curly hair as a kid. I don’t know what happened,” he shared. “My mom has curly hair, so maybe that’s where it came from. I’ve always had it short, so I never really found that out. It’s been crazy. I’ve come this far. Not that I’ve worked for it, but it’s like, ‘Ah, do I cut it now?’ It took a while to get here. It’s funny and it’s a good conversation piece. Something a little bit different.”
As for what his wife, Abby, thinks?
“Abby honestly likes it. She’s loves it. People always ask, ’cause they’re probably like, ‘Ah, you probably don’t like the hair do you?’ She’s like, ‘I actually do.’ … I think it reminds her of when we met. When I was much younger and much more handsome I guess.”
