Danny Gokey and Wife Welcome Third Child
“ITS A BOY!!!! Gabriel Daniel Gokey!! 8lbs 8oz.,” wrote Gokey with a photo of his wife as she cradled their newborn.
Baby makes five for former American Idol contestant Danny Gokey and his wife Leyicet. The couple welcomed a baby boy into the world just hours before the singer had to split for a flight.
“ITS A BOY!!!! Gabriel Daniel Gokey!! 8lbs 8oz.,” wrote Gokey with a photo of his wife as she cradled their newborn. Positioned next to Leyicet was a phone with the Wisconsin native’s face via FaceTime.
“This picture may seem funny but our baby came just in time for me to see him be born, hold him and love him and then I had to run and catch a flight,” he explained. “The thing is, I forgot to get a picture of me, him and my wife @leyicet together. So I called back on FaceTime to get this sweet pic!! I can’t wait to get back home tomorrow to hold him even more. So thankful I got to be with him at birth!!”
The couple found out they were expecting on New Years Eve.
“Literally, Dec. 31, she showed me the pregnancy stick and I was like, ‘You’re kidding me, you’re serious?” Gokey told People at the time. “I was on cloud nine.”
Parenthood has always been a priority for the singer, who is gearing up to release his fifth studio album, Rise, on Friday.
“I refuse to miss out on my children’s lives,” Gokey explained. “I think we need to invest in the right things and they’ll take care of themselves.”
Baby Gabriel joins big sister Victoria Isabella, 2½, and big brother Daniel Emanuel, 4½.
