It looks like musical talent runs in Darius Rucker’s family! He recently posted a song that his 19-year-old daughter Dani recorded called “I Don’t Love You Like That.” Rucker, who produced the song himself, said they had the opportunity to record the tune due to the fact that they were all home together because of the pandemic.

“Making the best of these stay at home orders and family time I decided to play around with my garage band and put on my producer hat,” says Rucker. “With my daughter @dani_rucker back home from college, she joined on lead vocals.”

In the song, Dani sings from the heartbroken side of a breakup, but instead of harboring feelings of resentment, she wishes her ex the best in life.

“I wouldn’t want you to suffer like I have, oh no, I don’t love you like that,” she sings in the chorus.

The song’s hopeful lyrics are paired with Dani’s sweet country voice and fiddle and guitar instrumentation. Rucker’s wife Beth posted a photo on her Instagram page of Dani recording the song and Darius sitting at the producer’s desk.

“So proud of this collaboration,” she wrote. “During quarantine Darius opened his garage band put on his producer hat and Dani joined in lead vocals. I know these times have been difficult for us all. The loss, the grieving, but Hopefully we all have had some light and positive moments. This unexpected family time was a true blessing.”

Prior to coming home, Dani was living in New York and attending New York University.
