David Nail is finally speaking out through social media about the struggles he faces on a daily basis in order to spread the word to fans and those who also deal with mental health issues.

The country star has always kept his battle with depression as a part of his private life, but Nail recently took to his Instagram page to post a meaningful message to his followers about the constant fights he goes through with his disorder. Talking candidly on the issue, Nail confronts his state and how he doesn’t let it control him from day to day.

“Depression is always in the back of my mind. It doesn’t hang around for months at a time like it used to, but it still pops up now and then. It doesn’t matter how good your life is going, or what a wonderful family you have,” he acknowledged in the emotional post.

Nail also went on to enlighten his fans that he could have all the fame and fortune in the world, but that will never be the answer to get rid of his depression. He even mentions the idea that someone saying a simple ‘Look on the bright side’ will never pull someone out of a disorder they face on a regular basis. Despite being brutally honest about his battle, Nail does shed light onto the actions he’s taking in order to make himself feel regulated and how the little things do add up in his routine.

“I know now, that with medicine, and therapy, I’ll eventually wake up one day soon without the weight of it wearing me down. But when you’re in the middle of the storm, it can make you feel as bad as you’ve ever felt. Much like a drug addict, I know I’ll deal with this the rest of my life,” Nail admitted.

Offering a bit of a silver lining to others suffering from depression or other mental health issues, Nail’s words remind everyone that seeking help and going through the motions are a natural progression for dealing with something as important as this. While he mentioned he will never be ‘cured’ of the disorder, Nail still relies on the tools necessary to provide him with ultimately a happier life.

Nail is set to perform at a number of festivals throughout the summer season.
