Did Gwyneth Paltrow play matchmaker for Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal?
When the USA Today asked Paltrow if she had introduced the pair she said, “Where is this coming from?” adding “Well, I’m scared to say.”
She then went on to say, “I’ve just known Jake for a long time and he’s a great guy and Chris has a friendship with Taylor.”
It sounds like the London rendezvous in November was intended to be kept private. “It’s so weird,” Paltrow said. “I wonder how people find out these things. It was a while ago, so I don’t know why it would come out today.”
In related news, Swift celebrated her 21st birthday last week. After stopping by Nashville’s WSIX and meeting up with pal Julianne Hough, Swift celebrated her brithday with a Christmas-themed party and about 70 guests at her family’s home in Hendersonville, TN.
“Turning 21 has never been a big deal for her so it was basically the same type of party she always has: family and friends and her band and crew,” a friend of Swift’s tells People.
Gyllenhaal was not at the party, he was reportedly in L.A., but he did get her a pretty sweet birthday present. The New York Daily News reports that Jake dropped $11,000 on a guitar signed by Chet Atkins for Taylor’s birthday.
“He spent the weekend in Nashville with her and she saw the guitar in a tiny store which a lot of A-list musicians use. Taylor drooled over it so Jake went back to the shop later and bought it for her. He was originally going to buy it just as a gift but it ended up being perfect for her birthday on Monday,” says a source close to Taylor and Jake.
