Dierks Bentley and Elle King stood up for all the girls out there with the debut performance of their duet, “Different for Girls,” at the 2016 CMT Music Awards.

The song, which highlights the contrasts of heartbreak between a guy and girl, proved to be an emotional feat for country music. Bentley was honored to have King featured on the track and knew it would make the song that much greater.

“I mean she has such a unique voice, and you never know if her voice is going to blend with your voice. I didn’t found out until I went down to the studio in Austin, and right away it was just a really natural sounding blend. Her voice just lifted up this song… And it really, it just took the song to a whole new place,” said Bentley recently.

Bentley recently released his latest album, Black, to great success and has been promoting the album through beach concerts and media tours before heading out to shows and festivals this summer.
