Dierks Bentley is the ideal wedding guest — meaning that he doesn’t show up, but does send a gift.

According to the “Beers On Me” singer, his gift to newlyweds Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani was totally appropriate, considering he wasn’t invited to the ceremony. It’s so perfect, in fact, that country fans can enjoy it, too.

“My presence at The Voice was his present!” Bentley told Entertainment Tonight, joking just a few weeks after he was revealed as one of this season’s Battle Advisors.

Back in mid-August, Bentley and fellow country star Jason Aldean were both announced as guest mentors on The Voice, set to help guide aspiring stars during the show’s early action. Bentley will help out Shelton’s team while Aldean joins former duet partner, Kelly Clarkson, and you can be sure there will be a few more laughs. But Bentley also knows how seriously Shelton takes his TV job.

“Just being around him as he talks to these kids, I was really impressed,” Bentley told ET. “He’s been doing it for a long time and he’s really good at, like, steering these kids who have these big dreams, these big hopes. This is so important to him.”

Meanwhile, he and Aldean won’t be the only newcomers on the show, with a brand new host taking the swivel chair for the first time this season. Pop superstar Ariana Grande will join Shelton, Clarkson and John Legend — and her addition is already causing some friction.

The 21st season of NBC’s The Voice returns to primetime on September 20, and in the meantime Dierks Bentley is out on his Beers On Me Tour, with Parker McCollum and Riley Green. Shelton just kicked off his Friends and Heroes 2021 Tour with Lindsay Ell and special guests.
