Dierks Bentley’s beloved dog, Jake, has died.

The singer took to social media to share the heartbreaking news with fans saying, “rest in peace pal.” He also include a black and white photo of the pup.

Jake truly lived up to being “man’s best friend.” The dog was by Bentley’s side for his entire career, appearing in several music videos and joining him for red carpets throughout the years.

Bentley’s latest album, Black, includes the song “Can’t Be Replaced,” which Bentley co-wrote with Luke Laird and Hillary Lindsey in honor of his four-legged pal. The touching song includes lyrics like “For fifteen years right by my side/ From a single man to three kids and a wife/ Friends come and go, but when it comes to Jake/ There’s just some things that can’t be replaced.”

Jake was 15 and was battling cancer.

We’d like to send our condolences to Bentley and his family during this difficult time.
