Country legend Dolly Parton will be honored by Billboard magazine at its 15th Annual Women in Music Event next month, being recognized as an inspiration for female leaders everywhere.

Celebrating the women who defined music in 2020, the event will shine a light on Parton for the powerful presence she continues to be, even in the midst of a pandemic. But she’s not the only artist being singled out. The event will also honor Cardi B, Chloe x Halle, Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez and Jessie Reyez, and fans can watch it live December 10 on billboardwomeninmusic.com at 8 pm EST.

During the broadcast, Parton will the Hitmaker Award, which “recognizes a songwriter whose compositions have impacted the culture in a crucial way.” A profilic writer since her arrival in Nashville in the late ’60s, that definition suits Parton to a “t.” She’s not only proved that women can be just as successful as their male counterparts in country, she’s also penned countless tunes that encourage women to take charge of their own dreams and stand proudly on their own — starting with her very first country single, “Dumb Blonde.”
