Dolly Parton was in attendance at the 51st ACM Awards tonight (April 3), to accept the Tex Ritter Award. After an introduction by Katy Perry, who cited Parton’s influence and impact on the music community as well as discussed her 2015 television film Coat of Many Colors, Parton accepted the award.

“This is such a great honor,” she told the Las Vegas audience.

She then mentioned that the recognition is even more special being that she personally knew Ritter.

“I want to thank the Academy of Country Music for this one,” she said. “I hope you like my coat. I had to do something to overcome all those long legged women walking around here. The song ‘Coat of Many Colors’ represents a special time in my life and touches my heart.”

She then raved about Jennifer Nettles’ performance of her mother in the film.

“How ’bout that Jennifer Nettles! Wow. We knew she could sing but who knew she could act like that? We had a wonderful cast,” she added before thanking the director, producer and writers.

“Thank you so much for this. This means the world to me,” she concluded.

The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards air live on CBS tonight.
