Anyone can do anything they set their mind to only if they use their imagination. Well, Dolly Parton took that into consideration when she set up the Imagination Library many years ago and has officially given 100 million books to children around the world with her initiative.

The country singer began the foundation by focusing on her local community of Sevier Country, Tennessee. After folks from other parts of the United States and beyond wanted to sign up their little ones for the book donations, the Imagination Library caught on and became such a pivotal part in many children’s educational development that Parton knew she needed to expand.

Through fundraisers and donations, the Imagination Library reached the point of giving away one million books a month to kids from the newborn age until the age of five who sign up for the program. Just as Parton could have wished in her wildest dreams, she feels so grateful that her charitable cause gained so much traction and became a staple in young ones’ lives.

“I always like to say that 100 million books have led to 100 million stories,” Parton said about the accomplishment. “I am so honored that our little program has now grown to such a point that we can partner with the Library of Congress to bring even more stories to children across the country.”

To celebrate the 100 million book milestone, the Imagination Library teamed up with the Library of Congress to provide monthly reading time in the Great Hall of the Thomas Jefferson Building for those lucky enough to attend. Even special guests will make appearances and musical performances may even take place throughout the program.
