Dolly Parton always said she wanted to be on the cover of Playboy at 75 years old — and we always assumed it was just to prove she could. But now it seems like there may have been another, more private reason for her plan.

The country legend took over social media yesterday (July 20) to mark the birthday of her longtime husband, Carl. And her gift to him? A recreation of her first Playboy cover.

All done up in Playboy’s iconic black satin bunny-suit leotard, with a shimmering fishnet body suit, black fingerless gloves and of course, the Playboy bunny ears, Parton shared a moment of intimate empowerment with fans. Carl was apparently smitten with Parton’s original Playboy cover back in 1978, she explained, and she’s always wanted to re-do the photo shoot. But since the magazine is no longer in print, the country queen decided to re-create her look just for him.

“You’re probably wondering why I’m dressed like this,” Parton told the camera, posing with a sassy hand on her hip. “It’s for my husband Carl’s birthday. Remember some time ago I said I wanted to pose on the cover of Playboy when I was 75? Well, I’m 75, and they don’t have a magazine anymore, but my husband always loved the original cover.

“I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy,” she went on. “He still thinks I’m a hot chick after 57 years — and I’m not gonna try to talk him out of that. …. Anyway, what I did for his birthday, I did a little photo shoot in this outfit.”

Holding up the new “cover” alongside her 1978 original, Parton goes on to describe herself back then as “kind of a little butterball,” and says she’s now “string cheese” … although she hopes Carl will think she’s “cream cheese.”

The clip resolves with Parton presenting the photos to Carl, giving fans a rare glimpse of a man who normally avoids the spotlight — even if it was only the back of his head. There’s no word on Carl’s official reaction, but Parton seems to have enjoyed herself, captioning her social posts “It’s always #HotGirlSummer for my husband, Carl. Happy birthday my love!”

In other Dolly Parton news, the country superstar will launch a new signature fragrence on Monday (July 26), unveiling “Dolly — Scent From Above.” The perfume will be joined by a new song titled “Sent From Above,” which fans can sign up to receive here. She what she did there? That’s one smart bunny.
