Dolly Parton Reveals How She Still Fits In Those ‘Tight-Ass Clothes’

"I have to stay on a low-carb diet when I'm on the road because my show clothes are so tight and I can't afford to gain like I used to in the past," Parton shares.

Not only is Dolly Parton a pro at performing, but she also knows a bit or two about how to live life out on the open road.

Parton’s five-decades-long career has taken her places only some dare to dream about, and with that, she can live easy traveling from city to city without even batting an eye. Knowing tour life is like the back of Parton’s hand and she doesn’t even have to think twice about how she rolls on tour.

First trick? Keeping things simple in her home away from home, also known as the tour bus.

“I live on my bus – I don’t stay in hotels at all so I don’t have the hassle of airports or going in and out of hotels,” said Parton to People Magazine recently.

While her husband of 50 years, Carl Dean, likes to stay back at home and away from Parton’s spotlight, she brings along another buddy to keep her company every step of the way. Plus, they both get to feast on Parton’s home cookin’, another essential needed around Parton’s tour life at all times.

The country legend is known for her glittery costumes galore and packs them up for her shows, but it’s risky business trying to fit in those little outfits if Parton doesn’t take care of business or her body.

“I have to stay on a low-carb diet when I’m on the road because my show clothes are so tight and I can’t afford to gain like I used to in the past,” she said. “There is nothing more uncomfortable than trying to wear those tight-ass clothes when you’re too big for them! I have to work at it ‘cause I’m a little old thing. I’m just 5’1″ and I still have that country girl appetite, so I have to watch it. I just cheat on holidays and special days and then eat the things I really love.”

But just in case things go wrong and stuff starts to fall in weird places, Parton knows the cure: a little nip/tuck treatment.

“If I see something saggin’, baggin’ or draggin’ I’ll get it nipped, tucked or sucked,” she revealed.

Parton is embarking on her Pure & Simple tour this summer, where she will play 60 dates across the country. Her kickoff show is on June 3 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
