Dolly Parton Helps Get Apple Watch Users Walking

Dolly Parton is inspiring on too many levels to count. She’s an iconic artist, a super-generous philanthropist and force-of-nature businesswoman who’s blazed a trail for whole generations of others to follow. But now she’s inspiring something new: Fitness.

Parton is featured as part of the new Time to Walk series, an “audio walking experience” on Apple Watch for Fitness+ subscribers. Made to encourage people to get up and get moving, each episode invites users to take a walk alongside “influential and interesting” people as they share thoughtful stories, photos, and music, and Parton is one of those people. For between 25 – 40 minutes, Parton and the other celebrities will walk and talk about life-shaping moments and lessons learned, share thoughts on purpose and gratitude, and more, all recorded while walking outside or in locations that are meaningful to them.

The episodes also feature photos and a curated playlist of motivational tunes. And according to Parton, she’s been an avid walker all her life.

“I’ve loved walking ever since I was a little girl in the Smoky Mountains,” she explains in an official statement. “I think it’s so important to be able to get out and walk if we can during this time. I do my best thinking when I walk. And while many of us feel confined during this time, I’m hopeful that people will take a walk down memory lane with me and we can all feel a little more freedom taking the time to walk together.”

Time to Walk is available now, and other influential people profiled include NBA player Draymond Green, pop star Shawn Mendes and award-winning actress Uzo Aduba. New episodes will come out each Monday through the end of April.
