Dolly Parton to Duet with Katy Perry at 51st Annual ACM Awards
In addition to her performance, Parton will be honored with the Tex Ritter Award for her television movie, Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors.
Dolly Parton has just joined Country Music’s Party of the Year, the 51st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, with a special duet performance with pop superstar, Katy Perry.
The performance will mark their first-ever live performance together.
In addition to her performance, Parton will be honored with the Tex Ritter Award for her television movie, Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors. The award is given to a movie featuring or utilizing country music that has been released or is receiving major exposure during the preceding calendar year.
“At the ACMs I’m receiving the Tex Ritter award for ‘Coat of Many Colors.’ It goes to such shows has in the past gone to things like ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter,’ ‘O’ Brother Where Art Thou’ even years ago ‘Best Little Whore House In Texas’ but now we’re winning for ‘Coat of Many Colors’ so I’m really very excited about that,” Parton said in a press release. “And I believe Miss Katy Perry and I are gonna do some special things too. I think she’s probably gonna present the award and we’re gonna sing some things together. We’re excited about that.”
Previously announced ACM Awards performers include Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, Cam, Kelsea Ballerini, Eric Church, Sam Hunt, Dierks Bentley, Chis Young, Cassadee Pope, and Brett Eldredge.
The ACM Awards will be co-hosted by Bentley and Bryan on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show will air live at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
