For his third stop on the #LivintheDream By Giving the Dream project, Drake White took time out to help build houses for those in need while visiting the city of Detroit.

On a beautiful, sunny day in the Motor City, White teamed up with Ford Motor Company and Habitat for Humanity to help build the foundation a few houses for those who are without a home or lacking safe environment to live in.

“Habitat for Humanity provides clean and safe homes to families in need all over the country,” he says in the short clip of his work day.

White did everything from building roofs to hammering nails to keeping the frame steady. As usual, he also sang for the volunteers and staff of the event, which lightened the mood during a long, hard day of work.

During his time on tour with Zac Brown Band, White has been using some of his days off to help out in different ways all across the country. Based on his song, “Livin’ the Dream,” he was inspired to give back in communities throughout the nation since he enjoys volunteering and participating in acts of kindness as a part of his country music career.

“I wanted to use my platform to just show people how easy it was to volunteer and how rewarding it is, mentally and spiritually,” he explains. “Just going out into the world and being willing to give your time is all you need.”

Take a look at White’s work in Detroit in the video and keep your eyes out for White as he continues on the Black Out the Sun Tour with Zac Brown Band this summer.

White’s debut album, Spark, will be available August 19.
