Dustin Lynch’s Sister Is Proud Of His Backstreet Boys Album Cut
The singer-songwriter dished about how he found out legendary boyband the Backstreet Boys wanted to record his song for the new album.
Country star Dustin Lynch got the surprise of his life when he found out he was getting a writing credit on the Backstreet Boys’ latest album, DNA, which dropped in January.
Lynch crafted the smooth track, titled “Just Like You Like It,” many years ago with Ross Copperman and Josh Kear. However, it was scrapped from Lynch’s project at the time because it did not fit with the tone he was going for, not thinking much else of the song… that is, until years later.
“I got a phone call, ‘hey the Backstreet Boys are cutting your song,’ and I go, ‘what song?’” Lynch recalled during a recent press event. “Then I have to go back and look through my folder and I’m like, ‘oh yeah, this one,’ and it hits you.”
After the initial shock that comes with being chosen by the iconic boy band, the Tennessee native was not surprised the Backstreet Boys recorded, out of all his songs, “Just Like You Like It,” as it fit their sound very well.
“It’s really cool to hear their vocals… I heard a Backstreet song on the Highway, and to hear them do their thing is just so freakin’ cool,” he said. “Honestly, when I heard that news, I was texting everybody because we grew up on them. My sister is really proud of me.”
The Backstreet Boys will embark on their coinciding DNA World Tour on July 12 in Washington, D.C. and will run through September. Lynch will take his own tunes out on the road when he serves as direct support for Thomas Rhett’s Very Hot Summer Tour, beginning in May.
