Dustin Lynch appeared on The Sam Alex Show this week where he chatted about a new skill he’s learning and a horrifying experience had by his girlfriend. The singer revealed that he’s following the footsteps of fellow country music pilots like Tim McGraw and Dierks Bentley and is currently taking flying classes to get his pilot’s license. Lynch recently returned from the Florida Keys, where he spent time practicing his flying over the crystal blue ocean.

“We took the plane down there and got to do some low altitude flying and we spotted sharks and sea turtles and stingrays,” Lynch told Alex. “It was just unbelievable to fly over that environment.”

Lynch shared that becoming a pilot wasn’t a goal he was necessarily set on, but he was influenced and encouraged by a friend who is also a pilot. So far, the singer has only flown with his instructor and his girlfriend Kelli, and says that his girlfriend, who is a model/influencer, was initially hesitant to fly in a small plane after a harrowing prior experience.

“Over the Caribbean, she was headed to a shoot somewhere in the islands and they went through a bad storm,” says Lynch of Kelly’s experience. “Commercial flights weren’t even flying, but for whatever reason, the pilot decided he wanted to jump over and apparently it was pretty sketchy. She said it was so bad she uploaded a video telling her parents bye on iCloud, so that’s legit scared.”

Dustin Lynch also shared that he has new music on the way as well as concerts that are “being booked now.” Lynch released his latest single, “Thinking ‘Bout You,” featuring MacKenzie Porter, on March 19.
