“My Boy” singer Elvie Shane and his wife Mandi are expecting a new baby girl, they announced via People on March 2nd. The new baby will turn the family into a group of four, as she will be joining Mandi’s 14-year-old son (Shane’s stepson). Prior to announcing the news publicly, Shane and his family did a unique gender reveal using the exhaust from Shane’s car to reveal the news. The couple told People that he and his family have been waiting a long time for this addition.
“We’ve spent nine years waiting for the perfect time to have a baby, only to realize there is no such thing as the perfect time!” they shared. “We’re feeling beyond blessed and thankful to give ‘our boy’ a sister and bring this gift from God into the world.”
Shane rose to prominence in 2020 with his sentimental single, “My Boy,” which describes the relationship he has with his stepson. The song found viral fame on TikTok, as many users created videos sharing their own stories alongside the track.
“Yeah, he’s my son and that’s my choice / He ain’t my blood but he’s my, he’s my boy,” Shane sings in the chorus.
Shane brought a visual aspect to the song with the release of the music video in December, which follows the story of a blended family.
