Equity Records Shuts Down
Clint Black has been having some trouble with his own record label for a while now, and now the label, Equity Records, is shutting down. Citing financial troubles, label president Tim Wipperman said “Our investors tried to find a way to keep the doors open at Equity, but with a struggling industry, an overall decline in discretionary spending by consumers and a total freeze on credit markets, the Board of Directors has been forced to make this difficult decision. We want to wish our wonderful staff and artists all the best in all their future endeavors.”
In addition to Clint Black, the label roster consisted of Laura Bryna, Kevin Fowler, Carolina Rain, and Blake Wise. As we told you before, Little Big Town was once on the Equity label, but left earlier this year to join Capitol Records.
